ST MARTINS

Le Grice began teaching at St Martins on a new Fine Art degree in 1964 where he began to explore film and projection amongst various experimental approaches to art and teaching. Whilst making his own early films, 'China Tea' and 'Castle 1',  he established the UK's first experimental film course providing a sympathetic framework for future film artists like William Raban, Gill Eatherley, Annabel Nicolson and Isacc Julien.

In subsequent years it became commonplace for Art education to include film and video making but in the 1960's this was a radical idea.
